PERILS OF INSOMNIA

This is what happens when one tries to fiddle w/a blog design in the middle of the night. I woke up around 3 AM & decided to just play with the new design options from google. But this is not what I want. The design and colors are not right. And since I never *saved* anything, I thought I was just trying it on for size & could just revert to my old design. But wah, wah, wah - - - it's not true. My old design, lovingly designed by my daughter, appears to be gone. Gone forever. And here is this. . . . just something I was messing around with in the middle of the night with just a few hours sleep. And not liking it. Not liking it at all.

You know - I was just fiddling around w/it. Just enough fiddling until I got tired enough to go back to sleep.

I bet this will keep me up for the rest of the night!

  1. OK - back up again & I was right - I never did go back to sleep! So I was able to clean it up a bit. This isn't looking so horrible to me now as I got rid of a lot of doodads. I'm not a doodad kind of person. . . . plain and simple suits me fine!

Note to self: no blog designing in the middle of the night when sleep deprived! LOL

  4. Oh I hear you, been there, done that....

Now I have to be very stern with myself, no blog fixing unless I have hours to redo it.

    BAD JEN!

    It works better this way.

Vera, by any chance, did you leave a message on my Picasa Albums? I just found out about the messages that people have been leaving there, but I am not sure it was you.

    The sunflower image? Cards?

If you are interested please contact me at muddybootdreams[at]gmail.com.

So sorry about that, I never see that page.

  5. I KNOW THAT FEELING all too well Vera. I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to wanting things just the way I want them. I'll work on it as long as it takes, and then when I'm done I finally go to sleep and dream about it. Amazing how the mind works! You'll get it just the way you want it. I find it takes months of tweaking before you perfect it.
    Love the pink hearts Pjs..lol
Thanks for visiting. I always appreciate your comments.

  6. Ohhhhhhh, I'm so sorry that you did this, in the middle of the night!

I have never lost my main blog, knock on wood. But now I have a "Test Blog For Aunt A." which is entirely private... Where I try out everything!

Try there first. Any mistakes are made there, where they are of no consequence. I gently suggest that you make yourself a "Test Blog," to try blog things out on.

Especially after your daughter makes you a new setup. Which I'm sure she will. :-)

    Gentle hugs,
From someone who has been ranting about these Blogger Changes, for a couple of days! Here. And here.

Yesterday I even put up a Gadget on top of my blog, with a "Marquee" effect, to ask for HELP. And I got help from a lovely blogger. And today I have her "help" up there, with a "Marquee" effect. :-)

    Gotta' love helpful bloggers!

  7. Btw, do you know that you have the Word Verification Setting turned on?

Many dislike having to do Word Verification. I have only Comment Verification Setting turned on. [This keeps SPAM/etc. out of my Comments] And I do not make my readers do Word Ver.

I say this, even though I sound like a busy-body, because I know some boggers simply do not return to a blog, where they have to do Word Ver. I try to mention it to the blogger... though...

    Gentle hugs...

Addition: This is the 2nd time I am having to do Word Verification. -sigh-

  8. When I wrote that post on Friday about the New Designer Templates in Blogger, I did not yet know about this problem. Where you can't preview and go back to your old blog style. I'm so sorry this happened. Why not just see if your daughter can do her magic again? Also, make a test blog to try things out on. Just create a "test blog" and play around on it.

  9. I feel your pain. I have to have help. My daughter designed my header, too. when I changed it, my friend Debbie at Confessions of a Plate Addict designed it and sent it to me. What a nice friend! Also, I do not like waking up at 3 am, but it is happening all too often! Linda

  10. Jen, Yes! That was me! You'll be getting an email from me this week!

Thanks, Lisa. I don't normally wear pink but Kohl's had too big a sale for me to walk away from them! LOL

Aunt Amelia - I have made the changes to comment settings that you have suggested- - - thanks for the gentle nudge! And the first chance I get I will be making a Test Blog! AND reading Carole, of Bohemian Design's newbie info!

Brenda - yep - a test blog seems to be the way to go! What a nightmare!

Linda - we have great daughter's don't we? I fall asleep easily enough, but seldom sleep through the night. Next time it happens I should maybe just read a book & stay away from the computer! LOL

  11. Oh dear! I hate those sleepless nights at the computer!! I hate it when things don't turn out right when trying to fiddle with blog designs!
I never go at it alone just because I don't want to lose anything so I have my techy neighbor assist me! Darn those sleepless night!
